Exceptional Experiences

This world class collective of professional guides needed a web product to match the top-notch service they deliver to guests. Ineffectively converting visitors and the inability to capture booking from the website lead to inconsistent customer journeys and lost sales.

Additionally, the guides and staff were unable to update their previous website without the help of IT Support. The stale content and inaccurate dates, times, and weather conditions caused guest confusion and organizational frustration.

My Roles

Principle Designer

Tasked with user experience, visual design, and implementation of the project from concept to delivery and testing.

  • Information Architecture
    Navigation, site structure, layouts
  • UX/UI Design
Wireframes, hi-fi mockups, prototypes, and Design System

Product Owner

Planned, coordinated, and managed the product across 3 division of our large organization

  • Web Department Head
Lead the developers, designer, and devOps engineer
  • Agile structure
Sprints planning, daily standups during the project, review and retros

Taking Action

Requirements gathering and problem validation

  • Ethnographic studying of each role in the customer journey and their current practices
  • Reviewed and optimized data flow from initial contact to the balance sheet with sales, marketing, and accounting teams

Designing with Empathy

Leveraged the research and user interviews to provide perfect balance of “stoke” content and actionable information. The hi-fi mockups and interactive prototypes evolved the design with clearer hierarchy, easier to scan pages, and interactive hints. I created the Design System and style guide in AdobeXD for the 5 other employees working on the project.

Empowering the Team

The staff and guides were excited be able to edit their website, but insecure in their non-adventuring abilities. As we built out the site, we held multiple tutorial calls to walk through the common actions and functions of managing the content. The nature of their business is seasonal with turnover, so the detailed video tutorials and audience appropriate documentation I created were “clutch”.

Outcomes
